Upstream Operations

The Uquo Field was first discovered by Shell in 1958 and lies within the OML 13 license area in Esit Eket and Eket Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State onshore Nigeria. Since 2003 when Frontier Oil took ownership of the Uquo  Field, it has been transformed from a stranded, partially evaluated appraised gas field to the first commercial integrated gas development project in the South Eastern Niger-Delta and a producing oil field.

The Uquo Joint Venture commenced commercial gas production in January 2014 and commercial oil production from February 2015.

Currently FOL is focused on developing the oil reserves in the Uquo field and is in the process of increasing oil production from circa 1200 bopd to 5000 bopd by Q2/2022 whilst seeking other growth opportunities.

Gas Operations

FOL with its JV partner developed a 200MMscf associated gas and non-associated gas plus 2,000bopd crude oil Central Processing Facility (“CPF”) which we operated as the pioneer operator from December 2012 to January 2020. The operatorship of the CPF was transferred to our JV partner as part of the business restructuring that took effect in January 2020.

At its inception, the Uquo Central Processing Facility was the biggest greenfield gas supply system developed by a Nigerian indigenous independent operator with its Joint Venture partners.
About 12% of Nigeria’s Domestic Gas market is supplied by gas from the Uquo Field.
